Skills Attributes & Employment Development

Anything that we learn or even study in or school or colleges are important to us. It helps us build our knowledge and even the understanding of the world. As always the things that I am studying right now are also important. Today I am going to discuss about the modules that I am studying right now in my bachelor level and how I think they will help me in the future and what I hope to learn from them as well.
Starting with the first module; Logic. Although I do have to admit that I absolutely hate math, it’s actually easy than what I have studied in my college years. As this module deals with the mathematical structures related to programming I hope to learn the basic logic of how to simplify programming and also how to cope with the unexpected mathematical errors that may arise in it.
Second is Introduction to programming. We basically are learning java programming right now and are also learning how the programming structure works. Since, I am a computing student I am hoping to learn a lot from this module to help me be a better programmer and also help me in my later employment years.
Third is Problem Solving for IT. This module helps us to understand and solve problems that are logically tricky in an efficient and swift manner. It also helps us develop a positive attitude towards problem solving. It teaches us the different approaches that we can use to solve a problem which is very important while developing programs.
Last but not the least; Study Skills for Computing. This subject helps nurture our researching and presentation skills. It also helps us build our confidence. I hope to learn how to be a good team player as in this module’s group project we have to learn how to cooperate with our team members so as to reach to a goal with ease.

Self Assessment

My second blog and I still I don’t know how to even begin writing this thing. Anyways today I will be talking about my achievements when I was in my high school and what do I expect to learn from my new college i.e. Islington College.
First of all starting with my high school days achievements. I did do some programming works in Q Basic so I am not a newcomer when it comes to programming. Beside this I even had some web designing experience and even made a website for my school with my friends. Although the website we designed was a little of an amateur’s work and we only used HTML without any CSS, Java or JavaScript we did give it our best effort and it wasn’t that bad either, but it was no use since my school didn’t take any interest in it and the project was scraped. The other thing that I did was in my later years when me and my friends decided to make a website and are still doing some work in it. So, all in all I am not a newbie when it comes to computers and stuff.
There are many things that I want to learn during the 3 years in my bachelor program. By the end however my primary goal mainly is to learn the concept and the structures of how programming works. Of course being a good programmer is also one of the things that I want. I also want to sharpen my presentation skills while I am here. I would have to admit I am not so good with talking with other people so I do want my people skills to improve too while I am at it. I also want to learn how I am as a leader and what my flaws are in being a leader of a group since I have never tried it and am just waiting for an opportunity to do so.

Do You Know Me?

Do you know me? Well I guess no. I didn’t expect a yes either though, since... well... to be honest I am not a famous celebrity. Well I wish I was but no, I am just a regular kid with a regular life and for the first time in his life is writing a blog.
Now then, let me introduce myself. My name is Kripal Shrestha. I currently reside in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Talking about myself, well… I don’t know what to say but quoting my family and friends; I am childish, don’t get angry quick, lazy, tolerant, competitive and pretty clumsy. I actually can’t state if all these things are true but since other people tend to know me well than myself I assume them to be true. Besides these I like to explore new places. Also I have found its more fun to be lost than to know the way, so from time to time I go prying around unknown places and even lose my bearings every now and then. My hobbies mainly are listening to music mostly classic/punk rock, watching movie, mangas, Formula 1 and Moto GP etc.
To be honest, when I started my +2(Science) I wanted to study Engineering, but in those 2 years the engineer part of me sort of died, so I studied IT instead. I am currently a BSc. Computing student at Islington College situated in Kamal Pokhari. I choose this above all the others because I like programming. Actually I didn’t know where to study in the beginning but as I searched for a college, I stumbled upon Islington College. Their affiliation to a London university led me to think why not get a degree that is foreign without even leaving Nepal. For me it was the cherry on top of a cake.
Well, I think that’s all. Hopefully this will give you a better picture of who I am and now you know me a little better, don’t you?
